"China's future demand for electricity is greater than in Europe, America, Japan, etc. Under such circumstances, we should feel very urgent in improving the performance of conductive materials used in transmission lines." August 24, China Academy of Engineering Li Lizhen, academician and chairman of the China Southern Power Grid Expert Committee, said at the "New Technology Exchange Meeting for Ultra High Voltage Cables and Energy Saving Wires".
He said that China's UHV grid has developed very fast in recent years. One of the most important reasons is that China's demand is very large. Relatively speaking, the demand of developed countries in Europe and America and Japan is smaller. In terms of electricity consumption, China's per capita electricity consumption in 2012 was only 3,600 kWh, but the average American electricity consumption reached 13,000 kWh, and Europe and Japan also reached 8,000 kWh. The gap is so great that we realize that there is still much room for growth in China's electricity demand.
He said that it took 10 years to increase the conductivity of the wire from 60% to 61% in China. In recent years, in the efforts of a number of domestic wire and cable manufacturers such as Far East Cable, the wire conductivity has increased to 63%, an increase of 2% compared with the 61% conductivity. Although such an achievement is already great, 63% of the conductivity still has room for improvement.
He urged that in this situation, people who invest in electricity and manufacturing companies can improve the performance of existing conductive materials by continuously improving the level of technology, and can also find new materials with better conductivity.
The meeting was held in Guangzhou and was hosted by Far East Cable Co., Ltd. and hosted by China Southern Power Grid Media Co., Ltd. More than 80 people from the Southern Power Grid, the National Wire and Cable Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, the Power Industry Cable Standardization Technical Committee and other power grid planning professionals attended the meeting.
China's electricity demand for large conductive materials needs to be upgraded
