Characteristics of regional cathodic protection

Regional cathodic protection is to protect all buried pipelines and metal facilities within the protection scope of the station. Its characteristics are as follows:

(1) Protection current loss is large

The complex buried facilities in the station will cause a lot of loss to the protection current and make it flow to the soil;

(2) Difficult design of anode bed

The form of anode laying needs to be compared in technology and economy. The correct position of anode will affect the effect of cathodic protection, so the design is relatively complex;

(3) The interference shielding phenomenon is serious

If there are too many grounding metal facilities in the station, the required protection current is large, and the excessive protection current will cause corresponding interference to the pipelines outside the station. The staggered facilities in the station will form a certain shielding and make the protection effect poor;

(4) High safety requirements

The safety requirements of natural gas facilities in the station are high, which limit the use of regional cathodic protection to a certain extent.
